Understanding Health Waivers:
What Visa Applicants Need to Know
For some visa applicants, the Department may find that the health requirement is not met because of likely health care costs, community service needs or potential impacts on access to services in Australia.
Where PIC 4007 applies, a health waiver may be available, but it is not automatic.

The Department will not waive the health requirement simply because you want to remain in Australia, have family here, are working, are settled or feel that the outcome would be unfair. A health waiver request needs to address the specific legal test and explain why granting the visa would be unlikely to result in undue cost or undue prejudice to access to health care or community services.

Facing a Health Waiver Request?
We Can Help You Build a Strong Case.
This is where careful advice matters. Health waiver requests often require more than medical reports. They may involve evidence about your circumstances, family support, financial position, employment, private health insurance, treatment arrangements, community contribution and the practical impact of refusal.

GPS Migration Australia can help you understand whether a health waiver may be available, what evidence may be required and how to present your circumstances clearly. We focus on preparing a structured request that addresses the Department’s concerns and explains why discretion should be exercised in your favour.
